Client Context
A global pharmaceutical company with an established neurology brand sought to sharpen its payer value proposition amid increasing access pressure and competitive complexity.

The Business Challenge
While the product was well established, the client lacked clear visibility into how its current brand messages, tactics and engagement strategies were shaping payer perceptions and access decisions. Value was not being articulated consistently across health plans, PBMs, and IDNs, making it harder to communicate true differentiation in a crowded neurology market. At the same time, account teams needed practical, credible ways to address recurring payer objections without disrupting existing relationships or strategies, creating urgency to refine the value proposition and strengthen payer-facing engagement.
Capabilities Applied
- Payer Value Proposition Development
- Messaging & Narrative Optimization
- Access Strategy & Field Enablement
Approach
HawkPartners conducted qualitative interviews with payer decision-makers to assess perceptions of the product and competitors. The research explored the impact of current messaging, contracting strategies, and account engagement efforts on payer formulary management. We tested the existing value proposition for relevance, clarity, and resonance, and worked collaboratively with the client to optimize the flow and structure of the brand story to highlight key differentiators. In addition, we developed a practical objection handler to equip account managers with clear, credible responses to common payer concerns.
Impact
Insights from the study enabled the client to refine and strengthen the brand’s value proposition, enhancing its clarity and relevance in a crowded market. The revised messaging, supported by a more compelling and structured value story, better resonated with payer stakeholders. The addition of the targeted objection handler empowered account teams to navigate access challenges more effectively, ultimately supporting stronger payer engagement and more competitive positioning for the product.
